Making a Splash for a Great Cause 💦 | Supporting USC Mind with a 6 Tonne Dumper

Last week, we were proud to get involved in something a little different — and very, very chilly!

We provided our Thwaites 6 Tonne Dumper for a charity Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness and vital support for USC Mind, a charity dedicated to young adult mental health and suicide prevention. This incredible organisation represents over 1,000 schools, communities, workplaces, and students across the world 🌍 — and we were more than happy to help in any way we could.

💭 Why It Matters

Mental health support for young people has never been more important. USC Mind works to break the stigma, open up conversations, and offer real support where it’s needed most. As a family-run business, we care deeply about our local community and the wellbeing of those in it — so taking part in this fundraiser felt close to home.

Here at Chislett Hire, we work with tradespeople day in, day out. Builders, landscapers, plasterers, sparkies, DIYers — we know the faces, hear the stories, and understand the pressure. We’re proud to serve the people who keep things moving. But we also know that behind the graft, many tradies are struggling — often in silence.

Statistics show that those in construction and trade-based roles are significantly more at risk of poor mental health. Long hours, physical strain, job insecurity, and the “toughen up” culture all add up. It’s not just about stress — it’s about burnout, anxiety, depression, and even suicide.

That’s why we believe it’s so important to not just talk about it — but do something about it.

🧊 Meet the Brave (and Soaked) Volunteers…

Taking one for the team were our very own Jasmine and Millie, who stepped up (or should we say, sat down?) for the challenge! And let’s just say… Jack was a little too enthusiastic with the bucket — we’re still not sure who had more fun....

With the 6 Tonne Dumper raised high and ready for action, the freezing cold water was tipped over with dramatic flair — and a lot of laughter. All for a brilliant cause.
